Collection: Dining Tables
The center of everything. Where meals happen, conversations stretch longer than planned, and holidays become memories. Our dining tables range from hand-carved French country designs by French Market Collection to clean-lined pieces that work in more modern spaces. Solid wood construction, thoughtful finishes, and proportions that seat the people you actually invite over. If you need help choosing the right size or style for your room, Kristine is available by phone or text.
Dining Rug Sizing & Chair Clearance FAQ
Should I use a rug under my dining table?
A rug can bring warmth and pattern to a dining room and define the dining area in an open-plan space. Bare floors are a lovely option too, especially when easy cleanup matters most. Choose what suits the way you gather.
How much should the rug extend beyond the table?
As a planning starting point, try about 24–30 inches beyond each tabletop edge, then check your actual chairs. Aim to keep all chair legs on the rug when pulled back comfortably for sitting and standing. This is guidance, not a fixed rule: deeper chairs may need more room.
How do I measure with chairs pulled out?
Set the table where it will live, including leaves you regularly use. Pull every chair back as someone would to get up. Measure the full footprint to the outermost chair legs, across both length and width, and allow a little extra margin. Mark a candidate rug outline with floor-safe tape and test chair movement before choosing a size.
What works for rectangular and round tables?
For a rectangular table, add your tested clearance on both ends and both sides. For example, a 72-by-40-inch table with 24 inches on every side suggests a 120-by-88-inch footprint; an 8-by-10-foot rug is a candidate to test. For a round table, add twice the clearance to its diameter: a 60-inch table with 24 inches around it suggests a 108-inch, or 9-foot, rug. Round, square or rectangular rugs can work, provided the pulled-out chairs fit within the actual edges.
What about open-plan rooms, narrow dining rooms and breakfast nooks?
In an open-plan room, center the rug on the dining group to define its place. In a separate dining room, check sideboards, door swings and walking routes as well as chair clearance. In a narrow room or nook, test the usable seating sides and any bench access. If a rug cannot accommodate chair movement without crowding the room, bare floor may be the more comfortable choice.
What is practical for cleaning and everyday use?
Low-pile and flatwoven rugs generally make chair movement and crumb removal easier than deep pile. Pattern can make small marks less noticeable, but does not replace cleaning. Check each rug's material and care instructions, including whether spills need specialist attention. Use a pad compatible with your rug and floor, and keep edges flat.
